InShort: Apple is offering its iPhone 5 customers a battery replacement scheme for free. You have to check on Apple’s support website whether you are eligible for this scheme.

iPhone 5 was unveiled on September 12, 2012 and it was released on September 21, 2012. It is also the first iPhone that was developed on the direction of Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook.  It received over 2 million pre-orders within 24 hours of its launch. However, Apple officially discontinued iPhone on September 10, 2013, following the launch of iPhone 5S and 5C.

The iPhone 5 faced many battery problems to the users of certain serial numbers. Apple is giving few more days to replace the battery of iPhone 5 for free of cost. In Order to check whether your device is eligible for free replacement  scheme, you have to visit Apple’s Website. You have enter serial number of your iPhone 5 there in order to check its replacement scheme.


Some iPhone 5 users were experiencing short battery life or they would have to charge it more often. Apple extended this free replacement scheme till the end of January 2016. This replacement program is coming to end and no one will be able to replace their iPhone 5 after January 31.

Rush to the Apple Store

However, this scheme can be only availed by certain customers who purchased the iPhone 5 between September 2012 and January 2013. In other words, you must have purchased iPhone 5 less than 3 years back then you will be able to file a replacement if you have purchased it between January 27 and January 31, 2013.

To known whether you are eligible for this free replacement scheme, enter your serial number on Apple’s Support Website.

Many people might have lost this opportunity, so who missed this opportunity and to those who weren’t aware about this scheme, rush to your nearest Apple Store as Apple wont extend this scheme again.
