Police Recommend Facebook Users To Avoid Using Its Reactions Feature

InShort: As we all know that Facebook is a corporation and an online social networking service headquartered in Menlo Park, California, in the United States. Its website was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg with his Harvard College roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. Recently the Belgian police have warned the Belgian facebook users and residents not to use the social media giant Facebook’s Reactions feature in order to protect their privacy.

Police Recommend Facebook Users To Avoid Using Its Reactions Feature

Earlier in this year Facebook launched its new emotion icons, from which users got a new way to interact with posts. As the social media giant, Facebook has introduced six new Reactions which appear as animated emotions and pop-up whenever the Like button is long-pressed on the Facebook app.

Hence, many users had asked the social media giant Facebook for a Dislike button, but the social media giant Facebook decided to offer a range of different reactions instead of Dislike button.

But, recently the Belgian police have warned the Belgian facebook users and residents not to use the social media giant Facebook’s Reactions feature in order to protect their privacy. As the Belgian police claim that far from offering a simple way of revealing your feelings on a Facebook post, the social media giant Facebook is using the Reactions feature to collect information on your mood.

As the police said in a statement that “If it appears that you are in good spirits, Facebook will infer that you are receptive and will be able to sell advertising space by explaining to the advertisers that they are more likely in that way that you will react,” and also added that “One more reason, therefore, to not rush to click if you want to protect your privacy”.

According to the Federal police “By limiting the number of icons to six, the social media giant Facebook is counting on you to express your thoughts and feelings more easily so that the algorithms that run in the background are more effective. Hence, by the few mouse clicks you can let them know what makes you happy”.

As the social media giant, Facebook has confirmed that how the data were gathered from user emotions which represent the key marketing possibilities for the businesses, and as a benchmark for the brand reliability.

Moreover, the Federal police explained that these are the things which will be the one more reason not to click too fast if you want to protect your privacy.
